All of my hereos have criminal records

What a great idea to visit the capital of Portugal at spring time when it`s 27 degrees and the sky is blue.

Of course, I wanted to enjoy the city life and all the sightseeing, but not without exploring the streets. The city is well known for street art. So here we go.

I admire VHILS. The portuguese artist`s siganture work are portraits which are scrached in surfaces like walls. So when I came to Lisbon I really wanted to see at least one of his peaces. I couldn’t spot one while the Street Art Tour, but was blessed with a great day out. On this sunny and hot day we walked three hours up and down the hills of this stunning city. The next day my legs hurt like hell. But all worth it.

Just one day before departure, on the way to the Belém Tower I saw out of a sudden one of his everyday heroes. And this is what made me feel really lucky. Actually, treasure hunting is not as much fun when taking a guided tour, but when by accident you make a great find. Look at this face…

An avid experimentalist, he has been developing his notion of the aesthetics of vandalism in a plurality of media – from stencil painting to wall carving, from pyrotechnic explosions to 3D modelling – which have enabled him to expand the boundaries of visual expression.` (from his website)

A city guide`s up-to-date tip:

Watch an interview with Vhils Aka Alexandre Farto and see more of his art (partly in English with german subtitles)
